Norman “Norm” Paul Hopkins, age 80, passed away on January 24, 2026. He was born on August 2, 1945, to Harold and Miriam Hopkins in Ferndale, Michigan. Norm graduated as class president from Morley Stanwood High School in 1963. Read Obituary
He always loved me, no different from anyone else. He was an amazing grandpa, taught me how to make his famous pancakes when I was a kid. I remember watching him in the kitchen and telling him when to flip the pancakes, we made a good team. I always had the best Christmas at Grandpa Norms and Grandma Kathys house. I sure loved his fresh watermelon and some vegetables from his garden, only some because I was so picky. Grandpa Norm will be dearly missed and forever loved.
I met Norm a few years ago when he and Tom updated our basement stairs. They both worked so hard and did such a beautiful job. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight,
must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle Norm's beautiful light will shine,
to brighten up another place more perfect… more divine!
And in the realm of Heaven where he shines so warm and bright,
Norm will live forevermore in God’s eternal light.
The day I graduated boot camp. I was very proud to have him there, seeing as how he was a veteran and I looked up to him because of that from a very young age. I’ll forever cherish the picture of him embracing me in a hug after we were cut for family day.
Kathy and family: so very sorry to hear of your loss. I have good memories of all the years Steve and Norm bowled together. Steve thought alot of him. Norm was such a nice guy and usually had a smile on his face. I remember he always had his blue drink at the bowling alley, must have been his signature drink. Always in a good mood and a great friend to all the guys...he was a sincere good person, a gentleman. My heart breaks for you...I could see the love and devotion you two had together. Norm was a stand-up guy. Excepting of all with no judgment of "uniqueness".
Genuinely interested in conversation.
He was a great father-in-law to my brother, teaching him things we did not learn growing up. He will be missed.
